Gotta Love Paris....

""I’m not having sex for a year. ... I’ll kiss, but nothing else," says Hilton, who told the magazine she has had sex with only two men during her lifetime." Now that's not what I really found interesting, although in our backwards society, it can only help to boost her ratings, and women are not supposed to lead fun fullfilling sex lives outside of marriage, unless your Nelly Furtardo of course. What got me a bit more is how much she's getting for an appearance. Hilton also told the magazine she collects $500,000 in fees just to show up at parties and other events from Las Vegas to Tokyo. Her best-paying gig, she said, was a recent Austrian appearance. "I had to say `hi’ and tell them why I loved Austria so much," she is quoted as saying. And why does she like Austria? "Because they pay me $1 million to wave at crowds!"

Yet again Paris proves she is truly the QUEEN of all Media. Her ability to get press, for just about anything she says, and command such astronomical fees for just saying "Hi", and her very successful foray into the pop music scene does make her the iconic blonde of this decade. Love that. I have to say Paris, you have grown on me a bit since March, and I'm definitley not ashamed to admit, I was wrong.

TONIGHT August 8th @ 10:30PM on MTV

Don't laugh, I asked my brother how to use TIVO to record it.

310-566-1063??

That's the number of the offices of Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild fame. Someone from his office called me this afternoon while I was out running errands looking to get a plug on the blog. I guess page six, AOL, and Defamer and where ever else just wasn't enough? I wonder if he is in preparations to launch a "Boys gone Wild" and was calling to ask for advice? Or am I just the victim of a predictive dialer outbound calling campaign from the porn bolier room?

Gotta love his attorney who gave this quote "My Client Is A Well-Hung, Consensual Devirginizer" love it. Now that's marketing for ya.

"Sex sells everything," Francis says. "It drives every buying decision . . . I hate to get too deep and philosophical here, but only the guys with the greatest sexual appetites are the ones who are the most driven and most successful." - Joe Francis as quoted on Deal Breaker.com. I must say I wholeheartedly agree with that statement.

I was also reading that he is working on extending the "Girls Gone Wild" brand with a feature film, ocean cruises, a fashion line and restaurant chain.

Great Article on him in the LA Times, check it out HERE.

I admire his entreprenuerial spirit, he's definitley someone I'd like to meet. Sex shouldn't be such a big deal, but it is. I'll be in the office tomorrow most of the day Joe.

DJ Idol...yes we have a winner....

Let me introduce you to DJ VanCronkhite of Atlanta, GA. DJ was selected as the winner of my DJ Idol contest, based on his press kit and demo submission. We've been working behind the scenes together over the past few weeks and I figured it would be time to announce it to the public. Currently were working on generating some more bookings for DJ, increasing his visibility and promoting his upcoming gig in San Diego at Bacchus House this coming weekend, along with fine tuning his already established marketing plan. We've grown his myspace network a bit over the past week, with targeted marketing in the San Diego area, and will continue to do so up until the actual playdate. The true test I guess, will be Saturday night, where we see if WE can be successfully in getting the club packed for him. One of the things I'm trying to do with DJ is make him more than just a DJ who shows up and plays, but actually takes a proactive approach in promoting his upcoming gigs, by securing media coverage, and wooing the local target market via both conventional and non conventional means *WINK*. Being that I love to dive into projects, throwing caution to the wind, I figure if this is going to actually work, I'm going to have to invest a bit of time and resources into making DJ a future star of tomorrow. I'll be paying him a visit in the upcoming months to hear him live, and see how well we can work together. But thus far, we get along well, and his polite southern demeanor with just enough edge, is not killing me yet.

Check DJ out on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/vancronkhite And add him to your friends. Also look for his top ten and some recent press on his page.

Friday Night - Only at the Crown

Born and raised in Southeast Massachusetts, Wayne's interest in music started early on as an avid saxophone and drum player. Aside from developing those talents in school, he DJ'd many church and school dances and held parties in his basement for his peers. Several years later, when he met his mentor and good friend DJ James Andersen (NYC), Wayne started to think seriously about developing his skills as a DJ.

After seven years behind the decks, Wayne has built an impressive resume and has become one of the top DJ's from the Providence area. He has held residencies in popular clubs throughout New England, including Machine (Boston), Buzz (Boston),Placebo (Boston), Kamp (Providence), Energy (Providence), Eagle (Providence), Purgatory (Provincetown), and Pied Bar (Provincetown). In addition to his extensive list of residencies, Wayne has also guest DJ'd at several of the most prestigious clubs in the industry, most notably RISE (Boston) and from as far north as Parking (Montreal), to as far south as Twist (Miami).

Always looking to take his music to the next level, Wayne now hopes to begin work in the studio on some original tracks, as well as collaborations with producers already well established in the industry. With so much ambition and such a passion for his work, the upcoming year should be quite promising for Wayne, so keep your eyes and ears open!

Lance Bass - I'm a Mansexual?

Mansexual

I figured that subject would get your attention!

So I was finding some more sniglets to share and I came up with my own. Some people got offended by the term S.A.G.(straight acting gays) I used in the people article. You know I hate labels, but there is a reason for labels I guess.. in certain situations. I do agree SAG sounds like fag, and how can you be "straight" if your gay and blah blah blah. I am very new to all this and I feel like even if I said the word "Dog" I would get letters of concern. So I apologize to anyone offended by terms i use. So with that said.. my friends and I have come up with a sniglet that describes my "type". The word metrosexual describes a straight man who has tons of gay qualities. But what about a gay man who have tons of straight qualities? I have had tons of emails from guys around the world that say they are afraid to come out ONLY because of the label that might be put on them. For example, it is hard for a star quarteback to come out if all he is going to hear is pansy and queen. So maybe this new sniglet will help.

Mansexual- n. A homosexual man who does not display most steriotypically -"gay" traits.

Unapologetic Noah’s Arc creator Patrik-Ian Polk discusses media bias, prejudicial politics and television tunnel vision.

GOLDEN BROWN The cast of Noah’s Arc.

On one hand, Patrick-Ian Polk epitomizes the Hollywood Cinderella story—a rags-to-royalty tale that began when his 2000 indie smash Punks and continued on television with Noah’s Arc, a serial drama about the various struggles and successes surrounding the lives of four black gay men living in Los Angeles, set to debut a second season of shows this Wednesday, August 9.

Yet in many ways, for Polk, Tinseltown’s glass slipper is half-empty—full of lip service and permeated by a silent racism that extends to the elite and moneyed members of the gay community itself. Polk isn’t waiting around for Prince Charming, though. As quick as he is to thank those who have helped him in fostering diversity, he’s just as uninhibited when it comes to calling out those who haven’t. For Polk, promoting ethnic and sexual diversity in film and television is a take-no-prisoners game—and, as he relates, the stakes are far higher than most are willing to admit.

Hi Patrik! I know you’re busy wrapping Season Two of Noah’s Arc, so thanks for taking the time to talk. Thank you! I’m always glad to—especially if it’s a cover story. We don’t get many—especially with gay press, so we’re very excited.

What’s your opinion of gay media? I’m annoyed with the gay press in general. We finally have a gay network started by MTV and Viacom—this is big shit, you know? And this their flagship show, their first original series. There’s no reason we shouldn’t have been covered by all of the gay press and had a ton of covers, but we don’t have them and the only reason I can think of is that the skin on these guys happens to be brown. I remember last year [here! TV’s] Dante’s Cove was on the cover of Genre and there was tons of coverage on the cute white guys of Dante’s Cove but nothing on Noah’s Arc. I don’t have a problem calling people out—certain people don’t like it, but some people have to be called on their shit. We’ve got a ton of hot guys, publicity photos, eye candy—why aren’t these guys on the cover of Genre and Instinct and Out? I was told by the Publisher of one of the national magazines that when they put black faces on their cover they don’t sell as well, but people aren’t buying Genre or Instinct because there’s some hot model on the cover. With the technology we have today, you can go on the Internet and within five seconds get any number of pictures of the hottest guys you could ever want to see! Who isn’t going to buy Instinct if the model on the cover happens to have brown skin? I don’t buy that argument anymore, not in 2006.

Speaking as an editor, I find it can be tough to find out black men willing to appear on the cover of a gay magazine. Did you have any difficulty assembling the cast of Noah’s Arc? Not really. That said, I auditioned about 150 people and saw a lot of new faces, but there weren’t a lot of “name” actors who came in to. There’s a fear of being stereotyped, but whenever an actor tells me that’s why he won’t do the show, I always say, “Tell me one person whose career has suffered from playing a gay character—just one!” From Will Smith on down, you just can’t. The bottom line is that actors—especially black actors—are starving for good roles and these are really good characters.

Why do you think that is? It’s always been a head-scratcher for me to think that when they decided to do an American version of Queer as Folk, no one said, “Do all of these characters have to be white?” They’re in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for godssakes, not Wyoming! And to film five seasons without any significant characters of color was shameful.

Did you intentionally set out to make Noah’s Arc more integrated? It was more about who these guys are and who they’re interested in. We’ve had some minor white characters on the show and we’ll certainly have more, but it’s not a priority and I’m not going out of my way not to do it, either. We also don’t have the luxury of 20 hour-long episodes like Queer as Folk—we had nine episodes in Season One and we have eight this season. With commercials, they’re only 22-minutes each and we’ve got four main characters, so there’s not a lot of room to work with.

This week is also Black Pride in New York. Do you think the idea of Black Pride is healthy? Or does it only strengthen divisions within the gay community? The people who organize [mainstream] Prides aren’t as inclusive and welcoming to other groups as they should be. They do a little, but not enough. Until they make an effort there will continue to be Black Prides and other Pride celebrations because people don’t feel [mainstream] Gay Pride celebrations service their needs. It’s unfortunate that we still need to have Black Pride, but I definitely see the need for them.

What do you think the organizers of mainstream Pride celebrations could do to be more welcoming? I think the whole idea of Gay Pride in itself is in need of some kind of overhaul. Our community as a whole is in trouble. I hate to be an alarmist, but someone needs to ring the alarm! It’s a weird time for this community—we’ve made such gains, but we’ve still got a long way to go and we seem a bit lost. I don’t know what the answers are—I’m just trying to film a little television show.

Do you think that television show has helped to make inroads to diversity? I hope so. I’m trying to use my work to encourage people to be happier, healthier, safer and more responsible. I want the show to be fun, but I want it to teach important lessons, too. It’s a tall order, but I hope young gay people of color see the show and see role models they can look up to and examples of what their lives can be like—that you can be a black gay man and you can live a happy life and you can do work that makes you happy and proud, you can have a family, you can have boyfriends. You can live a good life.

Great concept to boost your chart position

2BAD Nelly Furtardo is still #1. ;oP

This email is just a reminder about the Official International Beyonce Download Day! It's today, August 5th, 2006

Now the point of this download day is to help boost up Deja Vu and continue it's run as a smash hit on the Billboard Charts! This has been done by fans of other artists recently, for example Christina fans with Ain't No Other Man. Now it's our turn to help Bee!

Downloads have become a very important aspect on the Billboard Hot 100, and it's a very good way we can help influence Deja Vu's position. The song only costs a few cents each time you download (however you can only download once from each store).

What we can do is buy 1 download from Itunes, 1 from Walmart, 1 from MSN, 1 from Napster, and so on. Itunes/Walmart/MSN are cheap, and you will really be helping out Bee. Just sign up and purchase, they are only a few cents and it can make a big difference!

Myspace Hottie of the Day

This is Rob from San Diego, who we met while promoting an upcoming gig for one of our clients.

Rob would like to meet Sincere, Genuine, and Down to Earth people with no drama or bagage. I am totally up for talking with anyone who is willing to listen. I enjoy getting lost in hours of conversation without even realizing it. I'm a bit of a loner, mainlying putting and keeping myself in that situation, though i'm ready to break out of it. I LOVE being social when i'm out and about and look for people with HIGH ENERGY like myself. I'd like to meet someone who enjoys smiling as well ;-)

I LOVE to dance, and when at a club can be found on the dance floor almost the entire time (if not on an elevated box or a stage). I also enjoy working out (atleast 4 times a week). I also enjoy swimming and am re-teaching myself how to do so (sucked when i was younger and grew up with the bad habit of kicking my feet OUT of the water). Other than this, I enjoy going to the beach often, and usualy have a pretty awesome tan (if i don't say so myself) from being out in the sun so much. I Don't really like to read, but would like to get into it. Lastly, i enjoy photography and can almost always be found with my camera when i'm out and about. I'm trying to put together a scrap book and would love to show anyone it when i'm completed...

“My friends say you’re so lucky to be married to a poet,” says Elsie, the wife of Slam Poetry guru Shihan. “Yeah, but I’m still here picking up his socks and shirts.” Realism balances artistic inspiration in Rotimi Rainwater’s documentary, which follows several posses of poets as they scribble, practice and get manicures in preparation for the Nationals. In the last decade, Slam has become scored like Oympic figure skating, but as fans like Woody Harrelson attest on camera, its expressionism remains raw and immediate.

Meet David Dub

David is a new myspace friend I made, from Chicago. Link in and check out his tunes. All available for download now.

I'm a recording artist, which to me, means: A singer, songwriter, producer, etc. It means really being involved in your shit, and loving it, regardless of what people say, or even think about it, fame or fortune (although unlimited cash and celebrity, can be cute!). But no status is worth selling your divine right- which is to be who you truly are. I've been laying tracks for years, mostly cuz I love doing it. It's an amazing feeling and experience, watching a song come to life. Viben' with a producer and making a hot track, something you're really feeling at that moment- Love it!

The reason I never "release" any of my songs is, because I never finish anything I start! lol Maybe I should change that. But then that seems like work! And I don't wanna do it then. Shit. I'm lazy.

I have a very difficult time hiding my thoughts, because I then feel like I'm lying. Hate lies- Hate 'em!

DJ Billy Carroll

I spent some time chatting with Billy earlier tonight before his gig at KRASH in Chelsea. One of the things that came up in conversation was the elements of a great party. "Diversity" is one of those elements we touched on. Gay, Straight, Trans, Drag, B-boys, Papi's, whatever, having a good mix of people at a party helps to ensure longevity and success. Also we got to talking about the gorgeous Latin boys he loves, and how well they all can dance. ;o)

If your in NYC this weekend, Billy is serving up a second dose Saturday night at SBNY. Stop on in and check him out.

Also see Billy next Friday night at APEX in Washington D.C.

Labor Day LA Rauhofer returns

My second favorite Monster....

I LOVE me some Michael Brandon. My second favorite Monster is the legendary oversized appendage attached to Mr. Brandon named "Monster". Hey Michael do you remember that time, in the hotel in Boston when you electrocuted yourself on the lamp? Long story, not for now. But here's some news from Michael about his upcoming release.

*****Name that Video Contest*****
We've just begin edit and art design on the next Monster Bang movie.

Guess what? I don't have a title. So, I'm asking y'all to help think of one. This will be the third Monster Bang title I directed in it's entirety. I'm very excited about this release! It's shot entirely in a gym.

You can smell the man sweat that forms on ball sacks. In their pits. On their pecs. Between the cheeks of their ass!!

Ah yes, gym sex! Defined bodies, muscles, sweaty and pumped!! Adrenaline & testosterone coursing through veins. Watching one another across the room. Horned UP! Biceps, triceps, quads, gluts, & chest muscles aren't the only muscles swelling. Male hardness can been seen inside sweats and gym shorts. With each pump of the iron. Hardness swells to complete attention. Male hardness demanding attention. Attention only another man can give to complete satisfaction. Why? Because a man knows what a man needs.

Raging Stallion Exclusive, Dirk takes pride in his body. He loves to see the hunger in another man's eyes when they look at him. Undress him. Dirk's favorite time to work out is early morning. The gym is nice and quiet. He's able to concentrate on sculpting his body for the pleasure of others.

Raging Stallion Exclusives, Michael Vincenco has been watching Dirk's work out.

Michael's eyes longingly look at Dirk’s 3-day stubble and buzz cut. Not too mention the shirtless work out. In sweats that sagged below the twin arches of his pelvis. Just glistening. Stubble, abs, every bit of him a shine. Dirk is minding his own business! Except, his business, is driving Michael right out of his own mind.

Dirk finally ask Michael — who was also sweaty, though not from anything more strenuous than contemplating Dirk’s workout — to spot him on the bench.

“One thing leads to another and soon Dirk has his large, hard cock out and Michael is trying to swallow it.”

The action that ensues is a sight to be seen. Not since Michael Brandon graced the screens of Monster Bang movies have we seen fucking like this.

Prize awarded for the person (s) that help name the movie!!

"Save me from myself"

"Save Me From Myself" is letting me have it. Isn't this the truth? Think about this. I believe that people cross our paths to make us a better version of "Ourselves." Whenever we have a problem with others, ideally we need to see which of our reactions and actions are out of alignment with the truth of our being. We are, in my opinion, destined for greatness and love. But most of us are not programmed for this. Hence, many people strive to unlearn the learned. Therapy is no longer seen as a thing for freaks. Whoever wrote this bitch, was writing from a place of gratitude and a willingness to put blame where blame really should go...to the self. Nothing ever happens to us without our permission to give it reality and power. We can choose to be happy or sad at any moment. That's why I think we are God's greatest creation. We, unlike other mammals on the planet, have the power of choice! Animals act on instinct. We can choose!! So choose wisely today and be the creator that you are. We are not victims. Nothing is happening except perception. Just a thought.

Limp Wristed Myspace

We love when the family has commentary to share. My Darling LIMP, has a soon to be released single "What's the T" featuring Dawn Robinson formerly of EnVogue which is slated to appear on DJ Manny Lehmans next CD release on Tommy Boy Records. LIMP, Dawn, and Manny have been busy in the studio reworking the track, and I'm sure Manny will be delivering some amazing new version of the soon to be anthem for you to twirl to in the near future. Now you can also catch the LIMP in the Shannon Doherty reality show "Breaking Up" 8/15 on Oxygen, and he's just been cast a dancer in the upcoming John Travolta movie "Hairspray" that will be filming in Toronto.

I hate Mondays

Did some apartment hunting this weekend, and went out Saturday night with my favorite little monster. Lets see..night began in Williamsburg picking up my partner in crime, and receiving a tutorial on his new mcbook, that runs windows on a partitioned hard drive, blah blah blah, I was more impressed with the ichat camera feature than how much more efficiently he can run his deejay software on a computer with more RAM and a bigger hard drive, oh kids these days and all the technology they so easily adapt to. Always 6-12 months ahead of the curve. Ahem.

Headed on out to Mr. Black to really start the night out. Outside door staff, was extremely pleasant and welcoming, inside, it was a fu*king nut house. Boys gone wild in full force, an unseen deejay playing rap and hip hop classics circa 92-93 brought back some high school memories that's for sure. Amusing was the sight of Eduardo or was it Eddie? in a very fitting sombrero hat, dosing out tequila shots to the ever growing line of twisted twinks with gaping hungry mouths or so it seemed. Seen: Johnny McGovern, who I have never seen without sunglasses, and Stuart Armondo from Australia (Mr. Black himself) along with a slew of sweaty hotties. It was definitely a scene, not mine per se, but it was packed and the crowd was cute. Thanks to Stuart for the hospitality, didn't get to see the upstairs of the venue, but I heard in passing they allegedly do over (900) people through the doors on a Saturday night. That I found impressive after seeing the rather large sign downstairs indicating capacity was 237 for the room? Your guess is as good as mine, also I hear they have quite the afterhours scene that needs to be experienced to be believed.

Next back in the car and on our way to Roxy, met a wonderful girl name Alicia from Long Island City, on W 17th street who thought it would be a good idea to ram my rear bumper while we were at a complete stop in traffic. Thanks for that, I'll be calling that claim in this morning.

Next stop...ROXY. A wee bit apprehensive as when we walked up the line outside wasn't long as we expected. Easy, ID check and wristband, and up the stairway to heaven..quick stop in the foyer to see Brian Temple promoting something an energy drink in fact, that went down very smoothly whatever it was called. Passed Beto Sutter on the way in, he looked like he was running everything that night, and treasured that brief moment of rest when we saw him later in the deejay booth. As we entered the main room, all apprehension was swept aside as the music was almost joyful Rauhofer was blending just the right amount of vocals into his set to please me,(WOW!) and it was busy, I'll guesstimate over 1200 people maybe more, as I didn't venture into the Martini Lounge to see Danny Echi, but it wasn't about him tonight. After a quick lap we retreated to the booth, and that was a party scene all it's own. Took a moment to say hello and pay homage to Mr. Rauhofer who was in great spirits in his signature green flight suit, mixing in and layering samples with a doctor like precision. Yes I am taller than you thought... The decor was simple, Classics, the view from the dancefloor looking up, you just saw records hanging down from the rafters, all the Roxy classics I imagine..? Seen: Light Mistress Mitch Amtrak, who kept it just light enough, and was working that smoke machine, DJ Joe Hickerson, who was telling me his career in politics will keep him out of the deejay booth until at least November, but he did meet a lovely new boyfriend from Brazil who was visiting NYC for 10 days over Pride, and Joe is going to Brazil to spin at some launch of a new gay night in Brazil. Watch out for those latin lovers, and those summer romances that burn so hot, and fizzle so quickly. DJ Scotty Thompson, fully clothed for a change, and still just as cute. DJ James Anderson and crew, Joey Alvardo who I think dislocated my knee bouncing on it, plugging his afterwork party this coming Wednsday night, while kiki-ing over the Donna Summer "Melody of Love" performance we both adored on the youTube. Marc? the owner of Cafeteria, The ever so lovely Dahlia & her Bold & Beautiful side kick, who it seemed was overjoyed to see Peter, as they shared a hug and a little dance. The absolutely gorgeous and fantastic hostess/guardian of the booth Mira R. of Star 69 Records, your an absolut doll, and please send me that picture. Nothing was quite as cute as her, getting so excited as she snapped pictures of Peter in action. Caitlyn, who makes Nicole Richie look fat these days. Kevin Aviance who is definitely back, and he hasn't lost his touch. His interpretation of the classic "Tainted Love", in his Thunderdome meets Blade Runner, meets scraps of various fabric thrown together costuming, was flawless, the crowd truly got into his show. One thing I have to note, an unnamed former publicist for the venue once described Roxy, by laying out the dancefloor in certain geographic areas, that night I definitely saw West Side Story and Asia, along with a new section I will label it "Overcrowded" in the front of the DJ booth. The music was good, Peter wasn't too dark, and played just enough vocals to keep me happy while I was there. Songs I couldn't forget, "Walking on Thin Ice" just the sample layered in over something, I don't think he played the full song out, and my favorite, "Safe from Harm" by Narcotic Thrust, the rest of them are a blur, as I think I spent more time yapping than dancing or doing anything else that night. The mood was one of happy go lucky fun, no drama, no shade, just fun. Say what you like about the Roxy, but the staff is always polite and I always have a good time there. Maybe it's going to have a bit of a revival, with the return of Peter? Perhaps....but it was a cute fun night.

As I hate Mondays, that's all your getting for now, maybe more later. I need to go get an appraisal on my bumper and see about a few other things related to moving. Grabbed copies of HX and Next on my way out which I will digest later, the paper feels different?

OK....

Well a few hours in the city certianly did the trick. Had a brief lunch meeting with an hip-hop DJ, who wants to become a HOUSE dj, that was interesting. He's crawling out of his closet. He also works for a very successful URBAN marketing company in Boston, who had more promos in their office than I have ever seen in my life. Got a few interesting CD's , spun DJ DRAMA, the "Official Gnarls Barkley St. Elsewhere Mixtape" on my ride home, its kinda cute. Also made the obligatory stop at "Out of Town News" in Harvard Square, nothing like perusing the news stand to gain some inspiration.

So I come home to 5,555 emails from various gay bars across the country announcing they are having the PARIS HILTON, "Stars are Blind" CD release parties starting this week. So Orlando and Jason are on it I guess, and queens will be twirling the floors across the country with CD singles in hand. Barf!

Got some reading to do, and a bunch of shite to post, back in the morning.

Its one of those mornings where nothing is exciting me. So were going to head into the city shortly and hopefully find some excitement, or inspiration somewhere. Maybe back later in the day.

How do I look

OUR MISSION

In August 2001 the ballroom community and director Wolfgang Busch came together at the LGBT community center in New York City for the first time to talk about "How Do I Look" and the life after "Paris is Burning". The artistic empowerment and HIV/AIDS awareness community program was born.

How Do I Look is a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender "look" at the Ballroom Community through a multi-cultural, inter-generational and artistic lens. It serves as an artistic community empowerment project sending strong HIV/AIDS awareness messages through screenings, lectures, politicians, AIDS & community based organizations and the media.

The Mission is: to empower 200 "Ballroom" community members artistically, financially & professionally. Proceeds from the royalties are to be shared by the ballroom community, LGBT community- based organizations and the director.

The Vision for:this unique improvisational performance art-form is to protect the natural artistic progression from manipulation and negative energy flow and to capture the passing of the 30 year old Harlem traditions through the eye of the director.

The Goal is:to create an arts in education program and to inspire people from all walks of life to raise money and give back to the community through similar programs. We want to bring the attention to our community to bring more respect to the arts and to break down racism and stereotyping.

How Do I Look speaks powerfully about passing on three generations of Harlem "Ballroom" traditions and family values from legends such as Dorian Corey, Avis Pendavis, Anji Xtravaganza, Marcel Christian, Eriq Christian Bazaar, Ross Infiniti, Tracy Africa, David Ultima, Alvernian Prestige, Jose Xtravaganza, Andre Givenchy, Willi Ninja, Jamal Balenciaga, Mystery Dior, Stanley Angel, Harmonica Sunbeam, Emanuel Xavier, Rickey Revlon, Selvyn Givenchy, Jack Givenchy, MASHALA, Anthony Revlon, Gerard Gaskin, Roxy Latex and China Blue Latex.

The sense of family values is addressed by Octavia’s father Billy Austin, Kevin Omni, Shawn Eminence, Monica Continental and lesbian Jaimee Balenciaga.Personal struggles by Pepper, the founder of the first original House as we know them today, the House of Labeija and Luna Luis Ortiz Khan. Transgender education by Carmen Xtravaganza, Octavia St. Laurent, Angie Infiniti and Jazmine Givenchy, substance abuse by Junior Labeija and R.R Chanel and Jose Xtravaganza. They raise their self esteem through competition at events they call "Balls", to build recognition and ballroom status with the goal to become "Legendary"one day and leave behind a legacy.

This is a must see. Link into : http://www.howdoilooknyc.org/ for details on upcoming screenings. Thanks to Harry Demasiado for sending this important one over my way.

The song and the mixes are very cute, and they can't go wrong having Bobby Shaw promote it to the Billboard panel either. What is that sample I hear, reminds me of something...it will come to me. Adventures in Homo Depot

Made a quick trip to Homo Depot to pick up a few things this morning. Nothing sickens me more than the sight of a cute gay couple dressed head to toe in Polo picking out their crown molding and arguing about paint colors.

In memory of Louis Morhaim

Louis, was someone I didn't know too well personally besides the few times we met when I went into Heartbeat. I always enjoyed reading his columns when he was writing for Next Magazine, and it's always a tragedy to lose any member of our increasingly shinking dance music community.

You're contributions will not be forgotten.

A Funeral Service for Louis Morhaim

Paying tribute to a life lived in celebration of life!

It is with a heavy heart that we send our sympathy to the family and to the friends of DJ Louis Morhaim.

Louis Morhaim was a DJ, a business owner (Heartbeat Records) and an avid supporter of gay rights and issues. Louis and his team provided much for the support and music to DJ's from New York and around the world in our effects to bring you your celebrations. He lived for music and his memory and legacy will live on through my music. In the words of Mel Chernan: Louis, "Save A Place On The Dancefloor For Me".

Funeral services for Louis will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 12:45pm at the Riverside Funeral Home located at 180 W. 76th Street (@ Amsterdam Ave.) in New York City.

Sincerely,
Randy Bettis & The BetBoyz Team

DJ Joe G headlines Joining Hearts

Mr. Gauthreaux at it again, this time in Atlanta, headlining the annual Joining Hearts event. Now I know I have at least a thousand or so people on my email list for Atlanta, hope some of the boys head on out to get taken on one hell of a musical journey. From the looks of Joe's schedule on his myspace page, it looks like he's not slowing down anytime soon either. You go boy.

The mission of Joining Hearts shall be to raise funds to provide housing assistance to people living with HIV disease through grants to Atlanta 501(c)(3) nonprofit AIDS service organizations.

Joining Hearts, Inc., is a community based, volunteer 501(c)(3), non-profit organization dedicated to providing housing support to people living with HIV and AIDS in Atlanta, Georgia . In 2006, we celebrate our 19th year of fund raising. While the events we produce have evolved over the years, one aspect has never changed -

100% of every dollar raised through ticket sales and tips is donated to our beneficiaries, AID Atlanta and Jerusalem House.

Generous support from our Sponsors, Patrons, Volunteers and Host Committee enables us to produce a high-quality, entertaining annual event. Whether you enjoy spending the afternoon outside socializing with friends old and new, or you prefer dancing under the stars with the Atlanta skyline as a backdrop, our fund raiser is an event everyone can enjoy while also supporting a great cause. In addition to donating 100% of tickets sales and tips, good financial management has enabled us to donate the money remaining after all production expenses are paid. During its eighteen year history, Joining Hearts has donated more than $704,000 to AID Atlanta and Jerusalem House.

Joining Hearts was privileged in 2001 to receive the Community Honors Award from AID Atlanta. This award is presented annually to “an organized group of people who have positively affected the lives of countless people living with HIV/AIDS in Atlanta…[who have] given selflessly of their time and energy in an attempt to make Atlanta a better place for people living with HIV/AIDS…[and] is recognized by AID Atlanta in an effort to draw attention to their advocacy, service and partnership in the fight against HIV/AIDS.” Other recipients honored with this award include The Fulton County Chairman's Office for Ryan White Policy and The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta.

DFL Management - Patti Razzetto

We'll take some new myspace pictures for Patti next time were in LA. But anyways, do you know Patti Razzetto of DanceForLife Management? Like several other powerful women in the dance music industry, Patti is someone who is pulling alot of strings and making alot of things happen for several deejays, promoters, and events. She's an amazing woman, who I have got to know a bit over the past few years, and she's someone who definitley deserves some recognition.

A little more about Patti. I was born in Milan, Italy and raised between Los Angeles, Miami and Peru in South America. Currently I live in Los Angeles along with my Lhasa Apso "Falkor". I manage and book djs with DFL Management in Los Angeles. Have been going out to dance clubs as far back as I remember as I love dance music. I represent various djs including DJ's Phil B, Joe Gauthreaux, Tony Moran who I share with my buddy Marc Katz as it's all about teamwork, Mark Tarbox, Kio Kio, Bryan Pruett, Warren Gluck, Joe King and many others. Also do a lot of work booking deejays for John Brady Presents (Avalon Hollywood), Club Boy LA, Richs San Diego, Powerhouse Productions San Diego to name a few.

Dancing in the streets

Found this one on Rhythmism

Join Metropolis in Motion in an open-air dance and participatory movement event to bring attention to the antiquated and restrictive New York City cabaret laws. This is an invitation to come dance with us on Saturday, July 22nd from 2pm to 4pm in front of the Mayor's house!* This is an open-air event to call attention to the Cabaret Laws which restrict dancing in NYC...

Here we are in a city of an estimated 15 million people,** and there are only 244 currently legal places dance... And that number includes "adult dancing" venues... Its time to dance in the streets and remind our city that DANCING IS NOT A CRIME!

We are a Metropolis in Motion! www.metropolisinmotion.org

Saturday, July 22, 2006 2.00PM - 4.00PM

Where: At the corner of the Honorable Mayor Bloomberg’s home. East 79th Street and Fifth Avenue. Take the 6 train to 77th, the M79 or M2L buses to 79th and Fifth, or the M1, M2, M3, or M4 buses to 79th and Madison.

Who: YOU! And artists, ravers, i-bankers, cheerleaders, lawyers, doctors, hip-hoppers, street performers, ballroom, swing, Irish folk and African dancers, jazz aficionados, waiters, actors, janitors, punk rockers, politicians and a slew of your fellow New Yorkers.

**Wear your dancing/performance clothes, shoes, etc.**

Why: In 1926, New York City sought to limit interaction among the races and control “public lewdness” by clamping down on the jazz scenes found in Harlem and West 52nd Street (and later in the bohemian Greenwich Village). To this end, the City established Cabaret Laws that limited dancing to specially licensed public spaces serving food or drink where three or more persons congregated, and stipulated that only musicians “of good character” could be licensed to play. Over the years, musicians won the right to forgo licensing, but laws regulating dancing remain on the books. As part of his “Quality of Life” campaign, Mayor Rudolph Guiliani used the laws to crack down on bars and clubs without a license that allowed people to dance. Venues were fined, or worse, padlocked and closed forever. The laws continue to be enforced under Mayor Bloomberg, while his Administration gives lip service to repeal or reform. According to the Department of Consumer Affairs, there are currently only 244 actively legal places to dance in New York City, including strip joints and clubs.

Why are these laws still on the books? Some people say it’s to enforce a vague notion of the “quality of life.” Other people know it’s to keep property values high, club owners with cabaret licenses rich, and ordinary people, otherwise known as the citizens of New York, “in line.” And we don’t mean a kick line.

For more information, you can hear from our much respected predecessors in this fight (it goes back to Mayor Guiliani)-

Musto got bleeped on the simple life

For saying "FAG-HAG", give me a mother fu*king cock sucking break. What's up with E!?

From the NYP. E! set off one of this week's more intriguing mysteries when it censored Village Voice columnist Michael Musto on "The Simple Life." In one scene, Musto is interviewing Paris Hilton at her L.A. home for Out magazine. He explains to her that she's a gay icon because no matter what controversies she lands in, she keeps getting bigger and better. He then asks: "Are you a fag hag?" But the cable execs bleeped the words "fag hag." ("I guess because they didn't want to air the f-word," Musto told Page Six. "Fag" is considered a homophobic slur by some gays.) In the scene, Hilton replies to Musto, "Yeah - a lot of my friends are. They dress better, they're more fun, and they're usually hotter." The episode, where Paris helps two lesbians get married, has been rerun all week, and Musto has been deluged by viewers wondering who the "friends" are Hilton mentions. "People are sardonically speculating that we might be talking about Rhodes scholars, pot smokers, boyfriend stealers, porn stars, or just hags," laughed Musto.

Many of you may or may not be aware that I am going back into self-management mode. I have aligned with several agents (Patti Razetto of DFL Management, Mathew Harrat, Michael Benadotti, The people at Centaur Music) on a nonexclusive basis, and my new assistant and close friend (DJ) Greg Dean is working closely with me to insure a smooth transition. The biggest advantage in this transition is that it allows me to return to the personal working relationship I had with some of you for over 10 years. You can look forward to contacting me directly regarding bookings, questions or general inquiries, and I promise an immediate response.

I am also excited to announce the launch of my new web site at www.DJDavidKnapp.com, the best place to get the very latest info on my gig schedule, my music, and even how to preview recordings of my latest gigs.

My site will provide a link to my own My Space page http://www.myspace.com/djdavidknapp, and also a link to www.centaurmusic.com, where people can directly purchase any of the 11 CD's I have produced with Centaur throughout my career. What is great about these improvements is that I will be able to generate a formidable promo email list and more intimate direct link with my fan base.

Lots of interesting changes are in the air.

New England & NYC in midst of wicked heat wave

and the only things I can really think about doing, is listening to music and crusing for boys, and staying in the cool air conditioning. I got the vapors all right...whew. God the weather has such a wierd effect on me. Just got in drove to Hyannis on the Cape to see my lawyer, and take care of some business, traffic was light, slightly gagged at paying $3.15 a gallon for gas....hello. $62.00+ to fill my tank, I'm definitley thinking about trading in the SUV and getting a hybrid car. Nothing is cuter than a woman driving next to me on the highway, in an Denali about twice the size of my Mountaineer, and she was about 5'2, blonde, with a pony tail, driving this big mammoth vehicle, owning the road, in her bikini top,and oversized sunglasses, like she couldn't be bothered. Priceless, it's the little things in life, that make me smile. Let's see if I can find some motivation and keep blogging for a bit...maybe.

Warner Bros Music debuts new coaster line

Perfect for keeping those troublesome moisture rings off that new coffee table you just bought at Crate & Barrel. While everyone else in the dance music industry is making a huge effort to push the digital download, it seems Warner wants to go backwards and is pushing the CD maxi single of hardly digestable contrived, cloned, pop drivel. Now we love something successful, that nods at the past..Ahem Christina Aguilera's "ANOM", that's hot. Juniors Mix is OVAH! Oh those horns... Hello someone should get a Grammy nod for that one. Nothing is quite as funny, as I was driving today listening to the radio in a rare moment, and heard "ANOM" played back to back with "Stars are Blind"OMG....even the radio stations are coming for you Paris, it might be discretely because they have to play your music, but they do. But I have to wonder does Warner really think that Paris and Madonna are going to pave the path for the return of object fetishism in buying CD singles? To the best of my knowledge most labels are shying away from releasing them, as they are not selling like they used to. Spend an hour or two in Virgin Megastore, or Tower, or Best Buy or FYE, and you don't really see many of them on the shelves. The reason being is they are not selling. HELLO. Now the one woman publicity powerhouse Paris, is releasing her next single..."Turn it Up" with a cameo appearance by some interrelated label mates or paid urban artists to lend some much needed street credibility to the project. It seems that she has this wonderful way of latching on to whatever she sees that's hot, and adopts it as her own. Very single white femaleish... I have to wonder will this method of madness continue to draw heaps of publicity, or will it grow tiresome like all things in the public eye, and just fade into the background again. Hmmm....Food for thought.

I will say, I do love the song, written by...? Well, I couldn't find out who wrote it. It's not in the BMI or ASCAP databases. And I do love the Tracy Young mix of it. It's cute, it's catchy, it's fun. And the video is cute, and has a good concept. And 5 tracks off the album have already been leaked in low quality format, in typical Warner fashion. But will Warner find success with it? Now that is the question. The saavy marketing campaign launched digitally for Madonna's "COFAD" was an incredible success, I'm wondering why they are now going in a different direction. Hmmmm. Perhaps that EMI merger is just around the corner??

I'm ITC

ITC® stands for "In The Closet"....Thiss site was developed to support people who are ITC as it relates to their sexuality. This includes gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals, bi-curious as well as transexuals and transvestites, that for one reason or another prefer to keep their sexual preferences private. The ITC concept is simple; by displaying the ITC logo you can discretely communicate your unique sexual orientation and interest when and where youÂ’re comfortable doing so. This will make it easier for you to meet and get to know others like you, or if you are out of the closet and prefer to attract itc individuals, this is a great way to make your preference known in a discrete way. If you take a close look at the logo closely it is made up from the letters “I, “T” and “C” in a shape of an individual. The logo symbolizes both independence and discretion. Have you ever been browsing through dating service sites and found that the majority of the people are out of the closet? Have you ever been on-line and noticed that some people are married or in a relationship, yet still looking for something more in a discreet way? Have you ever wished there was a way you can let another ITC person know you are interested? Well now you can, wear the ITC symbol proudly and be sure to let all of your (discrete) friends know as well! Thank you for visiting: www.im-itc.com

Interesting concept, or lets say interesting way to cash in, as it's like saying I'm on the DL...the saavy entrepreneurial spirit knows no boundaries. Now paging Lance Bass..former of N'SYNC.

God found in mushrooms?

Neuroscientists find God in mushrooms
Wednesday July 12, 2006 By Jeremy Laurance
LONDON - A universal mystical experience with life-changing effects can be produced by the hallucinogen contained in magic mushrooms, scientists claimed yesterday.
Forty years after Timothy Leary, the apostle of drug-induced mysticism, urged his 1960s hippie followers to "tune in, turn on, and drop out", researchers at Johns Hopkins University in the US have for the first time demonstrated that mystical experiences can be produced safely in the laboratory. "Junior was playing that "Put Your Hands Up" when it happened, and the song is now known as TheSong That Broke the Dance Floor. - Dancing on the Bay Event.

" Susan was up against the big Tony Moran party at the airplane hangar, but yet she did manage to fill the room. I was delighted with her set. Too often in the last year I’ve heard her play it safe, heavy on the classics, a description that fits her Pier Dance set as well (though if there’s one place where a classics set is appropriate, it’s the Pier Dance). This was almost all new material and yet squarely in her signature style. A very nice way to start off the weekend."

"Joe has always been more able than any other DJ to rattle around in the tool box and make me like it. I don’t know why. But he was certainly doing it that night, banging and propelling the packed, hot, steamy crowd along. Midnight passed, and 12:30. If it were Manny, I would have expected him to just keep it up until he crashed into a brick wall at the end. But this was Joe, and Joe brings it down. I wondered how he was going to do it. And then, out of nowhere, we were in the dub mix of “Movin’ Up,” followed by Joe’s own twisted take on “Love Sensation,” and it was morning in P-town, or at least after midnight, and the party was ending on the perfect note. I’ve said it before, but it’s time to say it again: Joe Gauthreaux is a major-league DJ who should be getting major-league gigs."

WOW, 2 promoters are able to sucessfully compete on a weekend and pull off successful events and no one got killed or no one had all their business STOLEN from them. Some of these faggots need to lighten the fu%k up. ;o)

And of course Junior was grace under pressure, at Dancing on the bay, even after the dancefloor collasped, and it rained.

Junior working a break @ Summercamp

I LOVE ME SOME JP

After having the experience working at a few of his events at EXIT/BLACK, I discovered a new found appreciation for Jonathan. Getting those goosebumps that few djs, can give me these days when they orchestrate a moment on the dancefloor, like the time New Years or it was his Birthday at EXIT, at around 9am, the doors to the roof are open the sun shining in, and the lights go yellow, and the "Age of Aquarius" come blasting in and we all "Hailed to sunshine"...moments like that you never forget. And his original version of "All This Time" he did with Sylver Logan Sharp will remain one of my favorite tracks of all time. Link in and download it if you don't know it.

How to make money on myspace - *dirty, filthy, funny*

Now Dennis is a 20 year old student in Boston, who sends out a ton of bulletins that all read like the one below. Click his picture to see his profile. All the bulletins link to an external site, that probably offers a great click through affiliate percentage. My space is a place to whore and promote anything, so why not make some money at it. I've come across several starving students or profiles claiming to be starving students that are promoting the hell out of these type of sites. Gotta love the entreprenuerial spirit hard at work. Even if it's not your cup of tea, I try to at least click on one or two of the bulletins a day, as everyone deserves to make a living...right?

Tommy Boy - Silver Label

Has anyone else noticed the recent facelift to the Tommy boy site, and their myspace page? Also check out this contest they are running.

Silver Label's OUTstory Contest Everyone has a coming out story that is unique. Whether you strutted proudly out of the closet in your mothers pumps in elementary school or you met that special someone who helped you find your true self later on in life, we all have a story to share. Was there a specific song, artist, or musical genre that helped you through the coming out process?

We want to know!

In 200 words or less tell us your coming out story, including the music that helped you in taking this monumental step. We will choose the best story each week and post it on our blog. Each weekly winner will receive the Silver Label CD of their choice! After 10 weeks each weekly winner will be put up against each other to determine the grand prize winner, which will be selected by a panel of Silver Label celebrity judges. Send your story via email to silverlabel@tommyboy.com with "OUTstory Contest" in the subject line. Be sure you include your myspace URL in the message body. Good luck!

Check it out.
